Social Studies

The Social Studies Program at Cardinal Shehan School is one that promotes multi-cultural education and encompasses geography, history, and current events. The primary goal of this program is to prepare students for a successful educational career. This goal is achieved by focusing attention on organization, note-taking, and study skills.

Sixth Grade Social Studies concentrates on ancient history and world cultures. The Seventh Grade learns about history following the Fall of Rome until the early exploration of the Americas. Eighth Graders study American history. Through discussion and periodicals, all students explore current events and discover their own relevance and responsibility in society.
