Welcome to the wonderful world of Reading, where every media need is met.
Every student who enters the Library/Media Center is able to experience the wonderful world of reading. We have an excellent collection (over 7,000 materials) housed in our Center. Our collection meets each of our students at his or her own personal level. Most of our material is available for circulation, which means that if a student needs to use a book or other material in the classroom or at home, he or she is allowed to check out that material.
In conjunction with developing and improving library and research skills, students learn about the different genres in the literary world. Students also examine authors’ and illustrators’ styles and learn about the many Book Awards that are conferred throughout the literary world.
Finally, at CSS we value the enormous resource that is the Enoch Pratt Free Library and feel it is important to communicate that to our students. We have a strong relationship with the Cathedral Street Branch, and we visit that branch during our school year. In cooperation with the subject area teachers, our Media Specialist coordinates these visits to integrate with our curriculum.
