We use the
Houghton Mifflin textbook series. This series teaches concepts through
review of necessary skills before each lesson, hands-on activities
throughout the lesson, and leveled forms of assessment and reinforcement.
Children are asked to explain their thinking as the
concept is being

taught in order to
facilitate a deeper understanding of the concept. The wipe-off workmats
help children explain their ideas. The practice workbook helps to build
understanding. The colorful student “textbook” is motivating and exciting
for the students.

Call to Faith is
the series we use as a guide to the catechism of the Catholic Church. We
introduce the children to Catholic practices and vocabulary so the children
can have a better understanding of the Catholic faith while still
celebrating the gifts that all people offer to
the
world. Peacemaking is a vital

|
component of the Cardinal Shehan School mission statement. Every Tuesday, the entire
school empowers its students with lessons that encourage children to talk
about conflicts and figure out how to solve them peacefully.

note or call the day before if possible.
Field Trips – If chaperones are needed, we
encourage parents to volunteer to help; however, special training is
required for all volunteers. Please
contact the office in advance for details.
