In Language Arts, students explore themes as they examine personal narrative, stories of fiction and non-fiction, plays, mysteries, poetry, and other forms of prose. Reading strategies are employed throughout their examination; spelling, grammar and vocabulary are integrated into reading lessons. Expository, persuasive, and narrative writing is emphasized. Students learn and practice the writing process.

In Math, students learn about place value and money, operations and algebraic reasoning, multiplication and division of whole numbers, geometry, measurement, factions and decimals.

The focus in Social Studies is on geography, U.S. regions, and civic rights and responsibilities.
In Science, students examine habitats and ecosystems and the ramifications of personal and governmental decision-making and their relationship to the environment.
